Stage your own Comic murder mystery event!

It’s murder-mystery meets Father Ted as preparations for the annual Summer Fayre bring mayhem and murder to the picturesque village of Steeply Willows!

Reverend Martin Peacock is a charismatic minister, yet he’s recently become distracted at the thought of becoming the next bishop of the ‘Grimeford and Huntley’ diocese. And with Peacock dreaming of wealth and status, all manner of unholy schemes have begun to surface within his flock, resulting in several members of the Parochial Parish Council expressing distain at the vicarage* Summer Fayre planning meeting. But which two of them are driven to break the most sacred of commandments, ‘Thou Shalt not Kill’?
Could it be…
Gladys Sunday, the exasperated housekeeper…
Brenda Buffton, the robust Chairperson of the Parochial Parish Council…
Lincoln Green, an ineffectual Scout Leader…
Roy Chimes, the mysterious Church Organist…
Penny Lane, a rambler who ‘just happens to stop by’… or…
Father* Tobias, the disgruntled curate?
When Detective Inspector Charlton of Scotland Yard, and Lilly Heeks representing Bishop Burton, begin their investigation, a tangle of lies, corruption and deceit are unearthed. It would appear that behind the lace curtains of Steeply Willows someone is harbouring a grudge the size of Goliath The diocese of Grimeford and Huntley braces itself, ‘praying’ to avoid an ‘Hallelujah Chorus’ of a scandal!!
‘Who Killed the Vicar?’ is a one hour twenty minute comic play with 10 named characters- 3 male, 3 female & 4 of either (although with doubling-up it can be performed with 8 actors). Its parodying of village life and the mock-importance of small committees make it a popular choice for church groups… a divine murder-mystery!!

(*The script provides dual terminology for both Church of England and Catholic centres.)
