It’s ‘Viva Espana’ as Murderplays hits Benidorm! Events at the Hotel Britannia bring in detectives from both sides of the Atlantic as dastardly deeds appear on the menu alongside the paella and sangria!
‘Who Killed the Holiday Rep.?’ is set in the office of the ‘Golden Promise Travel Company’. Alice Drabble is the company’s only rep. and although she isn’t especially happy at work or dedicated to the organisation, something unusual has awoken her interest in the sultry Spanish resort. Too late as it turns out. When Alice’s scuba diving gear is sabotaged and her body is discovered two miles out to sea, murder is immediately suspected. But who would do such thing…?
‘Lucky’ Eric Braithwaite, the owner of the local Hotel Britannia?
Juan Adonis, the hotel’s vain, Spanish barman?
Babylon Mist, the ‘cheesy’ entertainments officer?
Or could it be one of the Britannia’s guests… Americans Candy and Rocky Tinkler, or the mysterious Rag Rossiter?
With suspects from both sides of the Atlantic, both Scotland Yard and the FBI are called in to save the day. Will Waldorf and Bentham be able to settle their differences and smooth sun cream over a burning international incident?
‘Who Killed the Holiday Rep.?’ is a 3 act play with a running time of approximately one hour fifteen minutes. Of its 12 named characters, 4 are male, 3 female, and 5 of either (although with doubling-up it can be presented with as few as10 actors). Set in the late 80s it parodies the concept of ‘the luxury package holiday on the Costas’. With its comic stereotypes and foreign setting it’s been popular with centres both home and abroad, especially in the summer!
