The
Ultimate Battle of ‘Good versus Easel’!
‘Detective
Inspector Constable’ has reached the end of a long and distinguished career,
yet it’s only now that he/she feels able to reveal ‘what really happened’
during his/her most famous murder case, that of a mysterious graffiti
artist called ‘Sharksy’. Constable presents CCTV footage which was withheld at
the time plus other undisclosed evidence, before challenging the audience to use
their own detecting skills in order to work out whodunit…
We’re
transported back in time to a run-down Art Gallery in a village called Beresford
Mange over which a murderous cloud hovers, one which is threatening to totally eclipse
it. Oh, yes… there’s been ‘A Total Eclipse of the Art!’
‘Sharksy’,
the world’s most famous artist, offered to drop by to unveil his latest masterpiece,
‘the Girl with the Pearl Hearing Aid’. Yet when his body is discovered floating
inside one of the gallery’s exhibits (a tank of formaldehyde used to display a
dead turkey) four suspects are quickly rounded up and asked to explain ‘Henry Moore’…
So
which pair combined to commit a murder carved out more intricately than Michelangelo’s
‘David’? Could it be…
‘Titania Pippett’, the gallery’s proprietor?
‘Lisa Santiago’ (Moaner Lisa), the gallery’s artist
in residence?
‘Wayne Baldock’, a local security guard? Or…
‘Mukk Raker’, a newspaper reporter for ‘the
Beresford Mange Trumpet’.
DI
Constable, along with a younger version of himself (the police trainee ‘Constable
Constable’) invite us to take our ‘Pick-asso’…
‘Who Killed the Graffiti Artist?’ is a comic romp which pokes fun at both ‘modern art’ and the artworld in general. It’s the ‘Clash of the Titians’ in which the outcome is guaranteed to create ‘A Bigger Splash!’.
The
three-act piece has 7 characters, 2M,2F plus 3 of either and an approximate
running time 75 minutes. 6 of the characters have significant roles.
‘Who
Killed the Graffiti Artist?’ is the full-length version of the Mystery Short ‘Cross
My Art and Hope to Die!’.
