Stage your own Comic murder mystery event!

It’s Doctor Frankenstein meets Sherlock Holmes in this ‘highly charged’ tale of gothic skulduggery!

Set in Victorian times in a basement laboratory, reclusive Felix Oppenmeister is set on changing the history of Science. The pioneering scientist is conducting experiments into the essence of life and after three years of feverish work his research is reaching its conclusion. Yet rumours of a ‘secret elixir’ have started to lodge in some very unsavoury ears around the fictional town of Chadderton-Twinge. All of a sudden, both the Doctor’s sanity and his ‘unorthodox methods’ have become the focus of intense scrutiny. Yet it’s still more than ‘shocking’ when Oppenmeister’s body is discovered “frazzled to a crisp”, strapped to his own scientific contraption. But who would use his ‘Transpondster’ against him? Suspects include…
Rose Petal: Felix’s overworked assistant.
William Bodkin: Local art-dealer (and ‘bodysnatcher’).
Andrew Stitch: Local turnip salesman (also a bodysnatcher).
Lady Isabel Pestilence-Tidy: Affable society lady, Patron of Science and the Arts.
Doctor Clifford Edge: Respected chairman of the ‘Society of Elite Brethren for the Benefit of Mankind’. And…
Ruby Tuesday: Owner of ‘the travelling Emporium of the Sublime and the Sinister!’
The responsibility of solving the macabre murder falls to Detective Inspector Fingal of (Old) Scotland Yard, and Caroline Bagshot from the Chadderton-Twinge Free Press. What they unmask turns out to be a ‘penny dreadful’ of a murder-mystery case!
‘Who Killed the Mad-Scientist’ is a one hour fifteen minute comic play with 11 named characters- 4 male, 3 female & 4 of either (although with doubling-up it can be performed with 9 actors). It’s the play’s gothic setting and faux-historical depiction of Victorian Britain that have made this murderplays title especially appealing to societies (and audiences)!
