School caretaker Jasper Ricketts is not so much ‘teacher’s pet’ as ‘teacher’s pet hate’! Universally disliked, his unexpected death produces no shortage of suspects in a school-based murder-mystery that’s top of its class!

Everyone knows that the person really in charge of any school is its caretaker. Sadly, however, so does Jasper Ricketts and he blatantly misuses this position at Blinkton Comprehensive School for personal gain. Like most school caretakers, he’s argumentative, uncooperative and sulky. He couldn’t care less about upsetting his colleagues as he’s confident of coming into a ‘significant’ amount of money. Things, however, don't run according to the blueprint he’d mapped out, and he finds himself not so much a ‘handy’ man as a ‘wanted’ man. But who has Jasper upset so much that they’d want to kill him?

 ‘Who Killed the Caretaker?’ is a one-hour, ten minute comic play for 9 actors. The piece requires 4 males, 3 females, and 2 of either (although with doubling up could be performed with 7). Set in modern times at the fictitious Blinkton-on-Sea Comprehensive School, its repeated parodying of school life makes it a popular choice for educational fundraising events.
