A hard-boiled pantomime-style whodunit that’s guaranteed to leave someone with egg on their face!
'Nursery rhymes' form the stimulus for this engaging mystery tale. Old King Cole rules Nursery Rhyme land with a grip of iron, yet he’s become so involved with stealing a magic mirror from the neighbouring territory that he neglects his best friend ‘Humpty’. And when his yolk-based chum is pushed off a wall he’s completely shell-shocked and heads the eggs-pedition to find the culprits. But who would do such a beastly thing?
‘Little Jack Horner’ the naughty knave with a penchant for pies.
The demanding ‘Queen of Hearts’?
The ‘Grand Old Duke of York’ the proud, yet cowardly, army commander?
Sleepy ‘Little Boy Blue’?
‘The Baker’s Man’, who’s far too busy cooking to indulge in pat-a-cake?
Or ‘Little Bo-Peep’ who’s flustered as she suspects her entire flock have been poached?
Old King Cole is eggs-tremely agitated and needs help from the audience to hatch a cracking plan designed to sniff out the bag egg!
‘Who ‘Dumped’ Humpty?’ is a colourful romp that’s been eggs-specially written to have a playful, pantomime feel to it. It’s a ‘mystery’ rather than a ‘murder-mystery’, but still no easier to solve than any other murderplays title. The piece is a one hour, three act, comic play for 9 actors. In true pantomime tradition, all of its parts can be played by either male or female performers. The piece has proved eggs-ceedingly popular with Primary Schools and Drama Groups searching for a quirky alternative to their annual pantomime. (It’s also a piece that’s regularly been performed by both adults and youngsters.)
