Shot
in the Rockies!!
Saddle-up
‘n ho-down for this Wicki-Wicked Wild West Murder Mystery!
The
year is 1850 and, with the Gold Rush full swing, professional newsreader Hank
Buckwheat is pedallin’ tales around the far-flung corners of the U S of A. Most
pertinently, he’s askin’ his audiences for help with an unsolved murder…
At
the Silver Dollar Saloon in Tumbleweed Gulch, Colorado, its local lawman, Sheriff
John-Boy Roscoe, was shot dead ‘n left lyin’ in a pool of blood. But who would
do such a ‘dang terrible’ thing…?
Clementine
Gilmore, ex-showgirl, now owner of the Silver Dollar?
Randy
Gilmore, Clementine’s brother, barman at the Silver Dollar?
Ol’
Duke Hazzard, a local gold prospector?
Chip
Handpin, stagecoach driver?
Sister
Gloria Excelsis, holy woman and guest at the Silver Dollar?
Fletch
Bonanza, Wild West Show performer and guest at the Silver Dollar?
Or…
‘The
Man With No Name’, a mysterious stranger bearin’ an uncanny likeness to the
outlaw ‘Ringo Jackson’ who was recently ‘busted outa jail’ by his band
o’brothers… ‘the Jackson 5’?
Newsreader
Hank, assisted by Tumbleweed’s new sheriff, Roscoe’s widow, Delores, will have
to show ‘True Grit’ if they’re to whittle down ‘the Magnificent Seven’ in order
to sort out the good from the bad and the ‘darn’ ugly!!??
Both
the cowboy era and ‘Americana’ are satirised in this ‘rootin’-tootin’ humdinger
of all-American comedy showdown! It’s vibrant stereotypical characters and
tongue-in-cheek approach to the genre make it ‘mighty appealin’’ to a lively troupe.
‘Shot
in the Rockies’ is murderplays’ longest ‘Short’ with an approximate 'running' time of 1 hour 10 minutes, catering for a full evening's entertainment. It has 9 characters, 5M/4F. However, as newsreader Hank can be
played by an actor of either sex, it’s also possible to be staged with 4M/5F There’s
no facility for doubling-up, but all 9 characters have significant roles.
