The
paw-some school whodunit that’ll have
you chasing your tail!
The arrival of ‘Miss Carrie Boo’s’ inspection team at St Bernard’s School has everyone feeling terrier-fied. But it’s Drama teacher, ‘Miss Lucinda Plott’, who’s under pressure most as the inspection coincides with the opening night of her school musical show, ‘Dogz!’. With the inspection team having been allocated front row seats, it’s essential that the performance is a bone-afide success. Yet preparations for the show have been ruff in general and matters are further complicated when Miss Plott is locked inside the costume cupboard by a malicious duo. With her as sick as a dog, and the whole school barking mad, it’s left to Headteacher, ‘Ed Master’, to find a lead as to who-dun-it.
Suspects
include the students…
‘Stu
Pidd’, who’s certainly not the sharpest pencil in the box?
‘Wanda
Party’, who’s more interested in her appearance than schooling?
‘Gene
E Hiss’, the new boy with a high IQ and even higher self-opinion?
And the ageing school caretaker, ‘Arthur Itis’?
‘Ed Master’ will need to woof-le a few feathers if he’s to win-a-lot and stop the whole school going to the dogz!!
‘St
Bernard’s Goes to the Dogz!’ has been specially written with schools and young
peoples’ organisations in mind. Its simplified language makes it an ideal
performance piece for young people of all ages (plus adults, of course). It’s a
whodunit (rather than a murder mystery) that satirises both school plays and
school inspections.
The piece has 6 characters and an approximate running time of 45 minutes. 3 characters are adults and 3 are school children, yet it’s suitable for performers of any age. As written, it has a cast of 4M/2F, yet can easily be adapted to suit 3M/3F or 5M/1F.
