The full bodied pub-based whodunit… no half measures!
The action takes place at ‘the Rat and Rooster Public House’ in Sewerton Mumps. ‘Beth Sellas’ is the world-famous writer of the Crystal Bullett detective series. At the request of Sewerton’s Writers’ Guild Beth’s returning to her hometown to discuss her writing. Arriving early, and feeling strangely uneasy, the famous author drops into the pub to kill time. Doing so, however, leaves her vulnerable to a terrible crime which is about to hit her with both (beer) barrels. When the laptop containing her latest novel is stolen, the ‘Bishop’s Finger’ of suspicion points towards a cast of pub-based familiars...
‘Beth
Sellas’, the internationally renowned author herself.
‘Colin
Sick’, town layabout and pub regular.
‘Candy
Barr’, local lass and barmaid at the Rat and Rooster. And…
‘Walter Melon’, the old-timer who likes nothing more than a quiet pint of Cobbler’s Jerkin on an afternoon.
With
the imminent threat of the pub’s landlord, Mal Practiss, being released from
prison, host Sam Manella is under pressure to ‘Call Last Orders’ on the case before
it becomes far more ‘Bitter’ then ‘Mild’!
This piece is written for 5 actors. 2M/2F and 1 of either.
